Berlin and Stockholm share a similar longitude but Stockholm lies 9° further north – a big difference: Stockholm's winters are markedly colder with January averages of -3°C versus Berlin's, and the growing season is shorter. In summer however Stockholm enjoys up to 18 hours of daylight, a much longer bright period than Berlin. Annual precipitation is similar in both cities at around 540-580 mm.
